We are all familiar with this verse, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). This is precisely the reason we celebrate Christmas - the birth of Jesus. Evil abounds in today’s world, and many people are in need of the Light in their lives. God sent His Son Jesus Christ into the world in the form of a man only to liberate such people who live in darkness. You can ponder on Isaiah 61:1-3 to know more.
A servant of the Lord was inspired by God to go to a remote village, which was full of darkness and gloom. He built a small hut for himself and began to pray alone. He began to wait in the presence of the Lord, with fasting and praying for God’s guidance as he could see the sinful life the people lived. He also did his best to help people when they struggled with a problem. Slowly the number of people who came to him for help increased, and he prayed fervently for them in the name of the Lord Jesus. As they began experiencing miracles in their lives, more and more people started coming to him. He would also explain the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. Slowly, over time, the darkness and the shadow of death began to disappear from the village. Family after family began to see the light. Soon the whole village, filled by the divine light, started to shine and give light.
SCRIPTURE to LIFE
Likewise, from today onward, will you also surrender your lives to the Lord like this servant of God and look to the Lord, and pray for your family members and relatives who live in darkness and gloom, so that the light of the Lord will shine in their lives? Yes! You and I are living in the last days, and the secret and second coming of Christ is very near. Just as you have been saved and delivered from the evil one, you should share the immense love of God with others. Let them also be delivered from any form of demonic oppression and enjoy the life that Jesus gifted us by His sacrifice on the cross.
Prayer:
O Precious Father! I praise You for graciously forgiving all my sins and setting me free from the darkness and the shadow of death. From today onwards, let me also live like the light for my family and community and I pray fervently for all the people who live in darkness. Grant me the life that overflows with Your divine love.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
